Prednisone

Has anyone else’s dog struggled on prednisone (steroid). My 13 year old dog has been put on them for a really bad ear infection - our last resort really before an ear flush is needed, which we don’t really want due to her needing to be put under anaesthetic. She’s never had any accidents in the house, but all of a sudden she’s peeing in the house (which we know is a side effect and isn’t her fault as she’s drinking more). She’s just had a bowel movement in the house 10 minutes after being let out for her last wee. She didn’t make any indication that she wanted to go out - this is her first accident in 13 years. I can’t find anything online about bowel accidents & prednisone? She’s also started barking SO much and being so naughty since being on them, i’ve got a 3 month old baby too so i feel so overstimulated! She gets lots of attention, gets walked every day and is played with whenever she wants, but she’s just filled with energy all of a sudden and doesn’t rest🥲

My 5 year old dog was put on them for skin irritation and the same thing happened. She would occasionally have accidents in the house but it was every day for the whole course. And she was weeing a lot more too. She lost energy though and was quite lethargic and slept most of the day xx

@Katie It’s horrible for them isn’t it!☹️ They’ve given my girl such a huge burst of energy, i don’t think she knows what to do with it! x
