Appointments

Hey! So I had my first midwife appointment at 6weeks. I’ve had a letter in regards to my 12 week scan being booked. I’ve had another letter delivered this morning for a different appointment with obstetrics - few days after my 12 week scan. Is this a routine appointment?? I do have high BMI so could it be for this??

I had the obstetrics straight after my scan, so ended up being almost a 3 hour session. Scan, bloods, height, weight and some other tests as long as a chat about what's next. So maybe they're splitting the two up? I also have a higher bmi and other health issues so am consultant led.

@Ann-Marie thank you. On the badger app I have a consultant on there but no idea why apart from my BMI which I’m guessing x

@Meg you could always call the midwife and ask? I'm sure they'll be able to tell you :)

@Ann-Marie I don’t actually have her number as she forgot to give it me🤣 the GP I also can’t call as my sister is the receptionist and I don’t want her to know yet! lol x

@Meg what about calling the number on the appointment letter and asking them? They have access to your inform information? I don't have a direct number to my midwife but I do to the department at the hospital she's at - so I've been told to call them for anything in between appointments x

When I went to my first midwife appointment it was around 8 weeks they gave me the low down of all my appointments at what weeks and if I was to see a midwife or consultant or scans. Maybe get in touch with your midwife and ask for a little more information xx

It’ll be for your consultant appointment. I had high bmi with my first (still do, and pregnant with my 2nd) and am fully expecting my 12 week scan appt to last ages- bear in mind that even though a consultant is “booked” to see you, on the day they come whenever they can! I’m lucky I booked a whole day off work.

@Leanne thank you! What do they do in the appointment?? My scan is 2 days before x
