Solids

How much solids are your babies actually eating? I feel like mine would eat a lot more than I’m letting. I don’t want them to be full on solids and not have enough milk. Is that the right thing to do? Or should I let them have as much as they want?

I’m the same, never know how much to give. I give round 3-4 table spoons of porridge in the morning and around 3-4 table spoons of veg in the afternoon and will introduce a third meal in next 3-4 weeks. I feel like my LO will carry on eating if I give more but then I also want her to carry on having her milk

I let my son has as much as he wants. We are doing blw so not all of it goes in but he is very clear when he has had enough. He will either play with it lots more or sit and stare at me whining. Tonight he had loads of pieces of pumpkin, some soup & bread I made, some celery followed by prunes & 1/2 strawb&apple sachet. He then had a big breastfeed afterwards. Baby will let you know x

She'll have a small (child's bowl) of porridge in the morning that I make up with her milk, then sometimes she'll have a small yoghurt or a piece of toast around lunch time then for evening meal, she has half a jar of 7mo+ baby food (the chunky one). Between this she has 3 x 4/5oz bottles. I found she'd happily eat a whole fruit puree pouch but would then throw up so now she only has half. She let's me know when she's full as she just refuses to eat anymore x

3 meals a day, 2 snacks and dessert with dinner and he has 3 8oz bottles. If doing puree he has probably 3 tablespoons as a meal but I always offer a finger food with it too. He clears his plate every single time.

My LO is still having x5 7oz bottles a day she has half a Weetabix at breakfast along with some fruit and then dinner is usually whatever we’re having or if what we’re having isn’t suitable she’ll eat half a pouch of baby food and sometimes a few spoonfuls of yogurt this is her usual but some days she seems to be hungrier and will eat more! I’m going to introduce something at lunch time today and might start giving her an 8oz bottle morning and night x

If they’re still taking all of their milk then let them eat more, if you notice it starts to affect milk intake they just decrease how much your feeding. They generally don’t need 3 meals a day until around 9 months and 9-12 months is when you should be introducing snacks.

I feed as much as he eats until he starts messing around and my boy is greedy he will eat everything

Do all your babies drink their milk well even after having the food though?

I mean he doesn’t drain them like he used to majority of the time he leaves 2oz but it can also be more he leaves x
