Nursery funding

Hi everyone, I’m trying to organise extending my maternity leave at work due to childcare. I’m just curious if anyone knows, when we can apply for the free nursery funding and when we can use it from? Am I right in thinking it’s April however does that mean it would be in effect from April so I could put my child in nursery from April or can only apply in April but takes a few weeks to be able to put them in nursery? Does this make any sense😅

I THINK the 15/30 hours you have to apply at the beginning of the term before they're due to start nursery, and the 20% tax free you apply 31 days before you're due to start work. But I'm still a bit confused myself so hopefully someone else can comment if that's right or not...

Hiya! So I currently have a 3 year old in nursery and a May baby who is starting nursery start of April! Nursery have told me from when she starts her funding will be in place, it starts in April and you will be able to apply normally in the 3 months running up to it. You will get given a code to give nursery who can type this in and it will activate from April 🥰

Tax free childcare you can get from birth with any child in nursery, you will need to set up an account through the gov.uk website and then you will pay money into that, the government will top up the account and then you pay nursery out of that account! Xx

If baby is 9 months before April you can apply for the funding from 1st Jan. you get a code to give to the nursery which is effective from April. To be applicable you and your partner need to be working 16 hours or more.

Perfect thank you so much everyone!!!
