My girl does this too. My doctor told us to use mylicon drops which I've started giving with every feed and I switched up her formula since I combo feed. She still grunts, but it's noticeably less in just a few days. I also do bicycle legs, tummy massages, and basically a lot of exercises with her.
My baby did this in the beginning it freaked me out but it actually is normal lol even if the snorts sound like a small piglet and the poo is so splattery and they can shoot it out its so overwhelming once you’ve come out of the newborn stage you become a brand new person from all of the shit you’ve seen and dealt with . Is your baby formula or breast fed or both ? Sometimes the type of milk they have affects them but if the nappies are full then I wouldn’t worry x
Hi, my little boy is 7 weeks and he has done this for weeks. Look up grunting syndrome. It’s not linked to trapped wind as such, it’s more about babies still figuring out how to use their muscles to pass a bowel movement as they are still developing. The grunting, movement and sometimes cries are to help them move things that are still a struggle for them. I was terrified at first and hated hearing him like that but apparently they are not I pain. I’ve spoken to my HV and GP about it and there is nothing you can do. My GP said he will grow out of it once he grows and his body and muscles get stronger and it’s not as much of an effort to pass through his body and bowels. As long as baby is still pooping, it’s ok. He baby’s constipated, then that is an issue. It’s really awful and I still don’t like hearing it but they say doing bicycles etc in the day can help a bit
Thanks so much everyone , woke up this morning with the same grunting right after the feed so it makes sense thats it either trapped gas or him moving the food through his system
Will try the bicycle crunches ans see how it goes, still get poopy nappies so thats good
My little one did this and would tense up and cry. I spent time rubbing his stomach and bicycle legs during the day, and during bath time stomach rubs. I also found out he prefers to sleep on his side or stomach.
