Processed Foods

At what age do you think is acceptable to give more processed foods? I don't intend to give my 1 year old unhealthy food. I'm talking for example ready made hummus and ready made falafel. Ham for sandwiches. Sausage to put in his pasta. Baked beans. Or crackers and breadsticks for snacks ect.... He just turned 1. But they all have added salt and preservatives. When is it (safe) to give him these kinds of foods??? I have made homemade hummus, but time wise it's not always possible.

All in moderation, try to keep within the salt guidelines, but if you have a more ‘salty’ day then do less the next. I would give all those items from 6 months.

Interesting article by solid starts that aligns with what Lisa just said: https://solidstarts.com/sodium-and-babies/

I’ve been giving ready made hummus, sausages and beans since 6 months 😂 his beans are reduced salt and sugar and he has them probs once a week and hummus and sausages he will have very sporadically every now and again maybe once a month or so.

@Jade really helpful read! Thank you. My poor baby has been on such a strict diet, he'll be happy to taste some different foods now.

I did from age 1.

My girl is 1 and I’m much more relaxed now. The only thing I’m very strict about is no cakes/cupcakes from outside. I make them myself. But yeah, we love store bought hummus, baked beans once a week for a full English, sausage & co for some breakfasts/dinners. Everything in measures. Your baby def can enjoy these once or twice a week x
