Hello mum! We’re quite in a similar position and just recently started nursery. The nursery we found is really close to us, less than 10 minutes walk plus easy for when travelling to and from work - its not out of the way. We personally do not feel at ease with a childminder although have never tried or looked around for it. Therefore, although it is quite expensive, we’ve gone for nursery. Our nursery has a ratio of 1:3 (1 employee for each 3 babies/children) Again, it all depends on you and what you feel is best for you and your little one. I strongly suggest visits at nursery so that you can see and know what to expect. All the best! x
July mamas are in a shit position where we just missed on the funding for the free hours and have to wait till September. It’s the longest term time that we have to wait. Some will only have to wait 2 months or so but ours is 6 months 😩😩 we’ve gone with nursery as it’s round the corner from us
We’ve gone for a childminder, I’m not against nurseries and I used to work in one but our child minder is literally doors away from our house so it just made so much sense for us! Pros of our childminder (obvs each one is different), they’re usually cheaper, they can be more flexible with what you pay for so if we pick her up early one day we only pay per hour for what shes done, whereas as nurseries will charge you for the whole day no matter how long your baby is there for. She also won’t charge us if we go on holiday, whereas again a nursery will charge to hold their place. I also just preferred the small, home away from home feeling, I think it will be less overwhelming for my lg! I recommend visiting some nurseries and local childminders and getting a feel for each setting :)
