@s a r a 🥀 how did they treat you during the insertion? And did you have any major cramping issues
It wasn’t too bad. To me, it felt like a pinch. There will be a mild cramping and spotting for the next couple weeks or so.
i also had an iud and it worked very well for me. you can always look at more permanent bc like getting your tubes tied!
I had the paragard IUD, it is hormone free and completely copper. I picked it specifically so I wouldn't have to worry about increased risk of cancer due to it being hormone free. It did make my periods a little heavier, but to me that is a small price to pay for peace of mind and good birth control. It lasts 10 years.
@Ashley how often do they check on it?
I only had mine for 3 years because we wanted to try for a baby, but as far as I know they only checked on it once to ensure placement was correct and then not again after that.
IUD is the most effective birth control, specifically mirena is now fda approved for up to 8 years.
The one and only birth controlled I’ve ever used and worked well for me was the Mirena IUD. I’m 1 week + 5 days postpartum and waiting to get back on it at my 6 week’s appointment.
