Medical management

I am due tomorrow at the hospital for treatment as I found out last week our baby had no heartbeat. I should be nine weeks. I am absolutely petrified of what is to come . Can anyone offer any advice with the medical management?

My baby died at 7 weeks but stop growing before hitting 5 had a heart beat but passed 12/10 people say the cramps are bad I had none but they say bleeding a lot and cramps a little more harsh then period but if like me will just cramp if they do d and c ask them to check one more time prior to doing it I never had it but they almost was gonna kill my second child but I did lose my baby I would of been 9 weeks today passed it at 7 weeks 5 days 😭😭😭

I've had medical management this week. I had the smallest amount of spotting on Monday and took the first oral pill Monday 5pm. For me, Tuesday was the worst day. I would highly suggest having codeine ready for that day, lots of maternity pads, femfresh wipes etc. Then I had second oral tablets Wednesday and today I've had some cramping but not much as I think everything passed on Tuesday. I believe it doesn't always work that way and quite often things don't pass until the second tablets. In the thick of it on Tuesday I regretted not doing surgical as it would have been over quickly but I think from what I've read I probably had worse pain than most. I think I'd maybe started naturally and the first tablets really amped up the cramps. If you had any questions please let me know. But I'm 4 days later now and bleeding is similar to period now and not too many cramps now xx

@Lillian I’m so sorry to hear this.

@Cara thank you. Sorry you’ve been through this, did you do this in hospital or at home? I have opted to go into hospital just because of my daughter at home . I’ve got lots of pads and wipes. Did you feel unwell after the medication or just the cramps? I’m absolute petrified of what to come. I should’ve have been nine weeks, but baby stopped growing around six xx

I did it at home, tbh I didn't know the hospital was an option! I felt nauseous after the second tablets but that was it besides the cramping. I should have been 9+6 and baby had stopped growing at 8+1 xx

@Cara did it take long to pass once it started?

@Danielle the worst was over in about 4 hours xx

@Cara I’m terrified 😩😩

So sorry to hear this! I had 3 miscarriages myself, one being a d&c I found it awful I was non stop crying, I couldn't deal with any of the other options so thought d&c would just be easier. Xx

I had MM for a retained issue, but didn't work for me.. didn't have any painful cramps eventually I started bleeding on my own 3 days later and passed it all..

@Danielle it was bad at the time but I think that's person specific but now the worst is gone! Hospital will be able to give you pain killers to help, as I was at home I only had paracetamol. You will get through it ❤️

I had medical management when I should have been 10 weeks and growth stopped around 6 weeks. They sent me home straight after. I was up and down all night, it was awful 🥺 at the time it was just me and my husband though, I couldn't have looked after another child. It was so dreadful I was surprised when a week or so later I had a huge bleed at work and learnt that the medical management hadn't worked at all. I ended up having a D&C which I wish I'd opted for in the first place as that was very final x

I just recently found out, I would’ve been 15 weeks but stopped growing around 9 weeks. How long does it take to pass? I’ve never experienced this before

I had to take the medical management route. I posted my timeline of it to Reddit if you’d like to read: https://www.reddit.com/r/Miscarriage/s/hCsxl6hrkm

@Megan this is very helpful thank you. I am due to start mine tomorrow morning.

@Danielle Good luck! I am so, so sorry for your loss. As an update to this post, since Saturday I’ve had bleeding and cramping that are the same as, or slightly more intense than my usual period (but not by too much). The first day after the pill the bleeding was very heavy but it has gotten better every single day. Feel free to message if you need anything or have questions!

@Megan thank you so much for this. Did you manage to eat at all during this? I’m just heading to the apt now for them x

@Danielle I was able to eat the next day! I was pretty nauseated but I managed to hold a bit down. I hope everything goes as well as it can!
