Gargle warm salt water

My sister had 4 boys, and I had issues with my 18 month old being sick with a sore throat and cough, and she suggested warming up half an orange for about 30 seconds with a sprinkle of sea salt on top or regular salt, (poke some holes in it, of course) and squeezing it into a cup. I put some water and a little honey in it too, so it’s not too strong for her. Hope this helps ☺️

No medication usually needed. Most sore throats run their course, but if fever persists 5+ days take her in. Have her drink lots of water, rest and avoid too much time outside (allergens rn are causing or exacerbating a lot of sore throats). Manuka honey is great. She can take it on a spoon or mixed into a cooled hot herbal tea (like peppermint tea or ginger). Even warm “honey water” with a squeeze of orange or lemon is good. It won’t dissolve in water though unless it’s really hot, so mix it in hot liquid and let it cool to “warm” before giving it to her. My son likes if I warm up a diluted apple juice/water mixture and dissolve the honey in it. Manuka honey specifically is so soothing to sore throats.
