Growth Scan

I’m 31+4, My midwife measured my bump on Thursday and I was measuring 29 weeks.. 3 weeks before I was measuring 28weeks.. so they sent me for a growth scan as I’d only grown 1 week in 3 weeks. Anyway, in the growth scan, babys measuring 3.13lbs.. I didn’t get much clarification as to if this is small or not! Has anyone had growth scans around 31 weeks and what did they say your baby was measuring? TIA X

Hi hun yes that’s small as I carry premature babies & my little boy am carrying is only weighing 2.04lbs & am 30 weeks my other children where weighing 4lbs x

I wouldn’t worry, mine was measuring 25th percentile and small and came out 8lb 5!!😣 this time they’re saying I’m too large I’m taking it with a pinch of salt x

As long as your measurements are within a certain percentile, they will not be worried. I have always had smaller babies but I wasn't a big baby myself either. We all grow at different rates - think of teenagers who suddenly shoot up! If they were worried about growth, they would have told you then and there in the scan I'm sure! There is no harm, if you are still concerned, in contacting your midwife to ask though xx

Thanks Girls, I got told at 31 weeks with my little boy that he was going to be huge and got sent for the GD test.. so this is very different for me😂 he came out 7lbs14oz so I just assumed this baby would be bigger than him, but not too sure what it’s on track for!! I suppose if they’re not too worried, everything should be fine xx

I’m not sure on weight, but my first daughter was diagnosed with FGR at 36 weeks and they wanted her delivered at 37. She was 5 lbs 8oz. Not sure if that’s small weight, but they were more worried about her measurements in the growth scan, her stomach, head and legs (I think) were all in the 1-5%tile. Essentially my placenta had stopped working properly so she was not getting the oxygen and nutrients she needed to continue to grow. Everyone has their different opinions as growth scans can be off in measurements, but this was what my team and family felt was best.
