@Ellesea thank you for your reply! My son has CMPA too and we weren’t sure if we were looking for symptoms that weren’t there if that makes sense? He was sick a lot more than my daughter and much more unsettled but he also wasn’t diagnosed until almost 5 months old. Unfortunately we can’t tilt our cot, we’ve got a Babylow you and me crib rather than a N2M. I’m definitely going tell try and get her into the GP this week, thank you!x
Projectile and bringing up whole feeds doesn’t sound like just reflux to me - could be CMPA, would see the GP and see if you can get prescribed a CMPA formula in case that helps and maybe omeprazole xxx
Has she been assessed for potential tongue tie? Some of the symptoms sound similar to my sons who has reflux but also a tongue tie which has been released twice and all his reflux symptoms are so much better (not gone). Mainly the choking and spluttering during feeds due to poor latch on bottle. as he takes in air it pushes the milk back up and causes a lot of discomfort and vomiting/ posset. Does your lo make a clicking sound when sucking?
@Beth she does make a sound sometimes but then we remove the bottle, give her a second then go back to it! Our son has a tongue tie that was never released as he was feeding but now has problems at age 4 with it, but we’ve had two midwives, a doctor and a consultant check for us as we were worried about that! We’ve swapped to smaller teats and that’s made a big difference but it still happens occasionally x
@Rosie could it still be CMPA when it’s not every feed? It’s a couple a day but then she can go a few days without being sick. Our son has CMPA and he projectiles after every single feed x
It could still be CMPA, my friends baby had mild symptoms and it was misdiagnosed until he was 8 months old. It then ramped up and he had awful symptoms by that point. Maybe go to your GP and ask for an assessment to go through everything and put your mind at ease. I've been though similar and it's awful guessing what could be wrong with your little one. My boys reflux is very random though, some nights fine, others it flares up. I think he's just a sicky baby over all as well, but gipping, excess vomiting, sneezes and congestive is also a sign of reflux. It's a minefield xx
@Beth Awh really? My son had noticeable symptoms from the get go, but he wasn’t diagnosed until 5 months when we started to slowly ween as advised by our HV and GP to see if it eases his reflux symptoms but then he got hives etc and got so much worse. Mind our baby girl is congested and sneezes a lot. We were told it was because of her being born via section but she’s 4 weeks on Monday so surely that would have eased up by now? X
Problem is all these symptoms overlap. But it's really hard to tell and different for all babies. Congestion wise they said the same to me re c section. He wasn't that congested after a few weeks if I remember rightly xx
Sounds like it could defo be reflux! My little boy had it bad but also has CMPA and he used to grunt and groan constantly in pain. Not sure if your next to me/crib has the option to put a tilt on it? We put our boy on a tilt and it’s helped his reflux so so much!! We also went to the docs and got prescribed liquid omeprazole and it’s working wonders x
