Anyone’s baby sick?

It seems like everyone is sick currently. My husband first got it, then my son, and now me. Poor baby has been dealing with a cough and congestion for a few days. I also struggle when I put him down for sleep he screams, which irritates his throat even more but then seems to start to calm down after a few minutes and sleeps. No fever (I’ve been constantly checking). Do I just let it run its course? Since me & my husband both have it as well, it just seems like a nasty cold. His breathing seems to be okay (though I was panicking a little last night as I was nervous he would have breathing issues in his sleep). Any tips? Not sure if u should let it run its course. Is it worth taking him to the pediatrician tomorrow?

yesss my entire household is sick too but my daughter has a mild cough that doesn’t really affect her and she hasn’t really had boogies I needed to clean I normally just keep the airways clean with some saline mist. keep monitoring him and giving him comfort if for your mental health you need to confirm with your pediatrician it’s not wrong to want to do so. but if he does develop fever for sure it’s time to go in.

Yes I was sick first then my poor baby seemed to have gotta it from me I took him to the urgent care yesterday because I was worried what to do

There’s a virus going around similar to covid.

We have a cold in our house right now too. Started with my oldest- congestion, loss of our voices/hoarseness... no fevers. Then I got it where I had headache, body aches and felt cold and tired and now have a mild cough with hoarseness too. My 3 year old seems to have the same symptoms I had. Baby so far seems to be fine but I just constantly nurse him to keep him full of milk with antibodies and hydrated. Since it's my 3rd baby we tend to let it run its course and if something changes where I'm worried like not getting better, harder breathing, not eating well, etc then I would take my baby in. He got the RSV antibody vaccine thing a few weeks ago but I'm still watching for that. And he goes to his pediatrician for 4 month check up in a few days so I know his pediatrician will check him out then too.

@Lounette I could've written this myself (except I only have 2 kiddos, 3 and 3.5 months)!

Yes my baby is sick & 11 year old is sick, the rest of us aren't (yet) I've been in her face all day so Ik it's coming for me soon. Last night she was waking crying every hr which was unusual cuz she usually sleeps through the night with maybe 1-2 wakeups. Last time she was sick we took her to the doctor & they said as long as she's not grasping at her chest, breathing really heavily (like almost exaggerated chest movements), no fever then ride it out cuz there isnt medicine or anything. Dr recommended keeping elevated as much as you can cuz laying down all that congestion goes upwards & bothers them & clearing her nose once stuffed up. Just sharing what I was told if it helps put you at ease, but if you're concerned for whatever reason its always best to take them in just like in pregnancy. Although it wasnt anything serious last time for her 1st cold so young I freaked out lol I feel so bad for my babe she looks like she's suffering so much 😞 I hope ur baby & household feels better soon too 🙏🏾

Reminder to have a humidifier going for ur baby especially when they’re sick

Coming back to this thread to warn other mothers: my baby just tested positive for Rsv and I have a respiratory infection as well, please go get the baby tested if you can!

@Bobbie ugggh. yup I have an appointment later today. We had an unrelated Gastro appointment for him today and she said to definitely get him seen as his cough sounds pretty bad. Poor baby. Hoping your baby is hanging in there!!

This is illness #3 for us. Just have to let it run its course. There’s not much you can do for a viral infection, Ped will just check stats and send you home.
