@Sophie thank you so much. They didn’t give me information leaflet, more like he just explained to me. I have googled it, and I was assured it’s safe. I’m just praying my baby will be born healthy, that’s all. It felt like it was so dangerous but I know it’s for the best
I’m literally sitting in the waiting room about to have one done! I’ve spoken to about 5 different doctors regarding the risks (some are close friends of mine too) and they have all assured me it is safe to have. They would not do it if the risks outweighed the benefits. Don’t worry about it. I hope it went okay. Xx
@Rebecca thankyou! Yes it went well, and now I’m offered blood thinners because I do have a tiny blood clot sadly. But all is well, it’s not life threatening. I wish you the best and don’t fear, the results are worth knowing
No you didn't make a bad choice. They often do V/Q during pregnancy instead of a CT scan because it's safer. If you had a blood clot it could have been life threatening so it was important you ruled it out. I also needed a scan when pregnant as they thought I might have a blood clot and I felt much happier having had it and knowing baby wasn't at risk than if I hadn't had it. I would inform your midwife you had it just for their information. It is not associated with increased risk of stillborn or premature labour. I think the radiation is equivalent to what you receive generally in a year. They should have given you an information leaflet about it but you can Google VQ scan pregnancy NHS.
