is this ungrateful?

my MIL always buys the most awful clothes for our kids for xmas like i’m not being dramatic they’re just really so so bad like waterproof horse riding type leggings for my son… a firetrap buttoned up cardigan with big silver buttons and floral leggings for our daughter…that’s not even half of it. they’re just so bad…i hate that i hate them haha but i can’t bring myself to keep them nevermind put them in it!! am i an awful person

You are not awful at all, if you were you wouldn’t even be feeling ungrateful and worried about it to write it on here. My MIL was the same, I told my partner to start telling her and now after 3 kids she always asks first or knows what we like now 😂

In about a month casually drop into the conversation that you’re soooo fussy with what they wear. Maybe she’ll take the hint maybe she won’t 🤣

Can't your partner kindly tell MIL that they're not what the little ones like to wear? Maybe come up with some alternative suggestions or maybe a gift card?

i’ve told him we need to tell her but he’s said he feels too bad 😭 every year i say i feel worse that shes spending her money on stuff! i have mentioned things before eg im fussy, i like neutrals, if we need clothes ill let them know but she still just does what she wants

My mil asked what size my son was wearing and still bought 2 sizes bigger. So he won’t be wearing any of the clothes until next year I’d guess 🤦🏻‍♀️
