.. where you live or birthing at the centre. I’m going to birth at the centre provided all is welll. But honestly they are THE BEST
We had a close family friend who needed a c-section out of lakeshore and said it was a good experience. Vs another friend said st Mary’s wasn’t that great (compared it to a baby factory) lol I did recently visit Lasalle hospital for an ultrasound and they’ve just gone through a huge renovation so the whole family/maternity ward looked great.
I'll echo what Veronica has said about the midwives at Lac St. Louis Birth centre - they are amazing! I used to be with an OB out of Lakeshore and she seemed knowledgeable but had zero time for me. She was hours late for every appointment and didn't have time for any of my questions. As a first time mom, I felt like I needed a bit more support. I transferred to the midwives at 20 weeks and the care and education they have provided has truly been incredible. I'm 37 weeks now.
@Hannah who is your midwife?
Karianne 😊 She has been wonderful.
@Hannah SHES MY MIDWIFE TOOO!!!!!! ❤️❤️❤️ and absolutely the BEST!
Oh Veronica and Hannah, thank you so much! I have read about Saint Louis Midwifery and I will be calling them tomorrow. I even did not get my first echo, as my family has a huge history of twins and that would put me straight on high risk, I will wait to be sure before I do the jump… but I will try a consult with them for sure. Are you guys considering doulas ?
Echo meaning : ultrassound
@Amália no doula for me. I think the midwife is a good enough coach and advocate combined with the support of my husband. ☺️
Great !
@Amália Same for me! I would consider a doula if I were giving birth at a hospital with an OB. But I think the midwife and my partner will be able to provide enough support.
Nice, thank you! I have an ultrasound this Friday. I am looking forward to it🙏🏽☺️
@Veronica and @Hannah Karianne is my midwife too! Im also loving my experience with the birthing center! What are both of your due dates?? :)
@Veronique I’m due March 8 ☺️

I gave birth at lakeshore and I had a fantastic experience, incredible doctors and nurses to cheer you on and the private room to recover was perfect.
So I’m currently 32w and was with an OB out of St Mary’s for the first 16-18w… the OB was great but holy moly did I ever lose my day on visits. She was always several hours behind schedule (even with early appointments) and I always felt rushed to ask my questions so she could move on to the next patient. I had been on a waiting list with the midwives since week 6 and in mid/late Oct they finally called to take me on. BEST MOVE EVER. So they’re based out of the Lac st Louis birthing centre in Pointe-Claire and let me tell you they are amazing! Just some things to consider for midwives: right now due to the fact there are so few midwives, they have “limitations” on types of patients they can take. I.e if you’re high risk or are wanting delivery via c-section (I.e it’s baby number 2 and you’re not wanting a VBAC)… you also are limited in your birthing location. They no longer have presence in the hospitals (thanks to COVID) so options are birthing at home (again limited depending on …
