Neurosurgery

I recently had brain surgery to have my tumor removed two weeks ago. I am still recovering but I am so glad that I went through it and got it done with. My neurosurgeon was amazing and was able to fully remove my tumor with the help of the ENT surgeon. I am already feeling better. My prolactin is back to normal and my energy levels are slowing coming back. Once I am fully recovered my husband and I plan to try again and are hopeful for better results this time around now that I am tumor free. If anyone is considering surgery or needs surgery feel free to reach out. I am happy to share more about my experience if it helps. đź’—

Glad your surgery went well! ❤️ I am wondering if you chose surgery first? Before I was pregnant I was on cabergoline & had to stop because of the pregnancy. After being on cabergoline for 2 months, my levels were normal. But they’re obviously way up now as I’m breastfeeding, but unsure if the tablets would decrease the tumour? X

Hi Caitlin, I was on Cabergoline for a few months to help lower my levels and shrink my tumor. My prolactin levels reduced but not as much as my endocrinologist had hoped and they eventually plateaued. That is when she said that I most likely did not have a prolactinoma but a pituitary macro adenoma which cannot be cured with medication. They have to be removed surgically unfortunately. That was my only option.

I’m have elevated prolactin levels and this info is good to hear.
