Driving myself sick with testing worry

Literally had a scan last week which confirmed I was 7 plus 4 and heartbeat shown but stupidly decided to do another test today and it’s a lot fainter than my previous ones. I’m now 8 weeks and worrying that the line should be much stronger as although present, it’s lighter than the evap line whereas before it was a dye stealer. Also had sickness and now not as much. Is this just worry/fluctuating symptoms or should I contact midwife and say about fainter test? Any advice etc welcome. I’ve had 2 previous miscarriages but both before 6 weeks.

I think it’s probably due to the hook effect (something to do with the amount of HCG levels out or something and stops lines getting darker)

Have a read about the hook effect. Sometimes the hcg can be very high it interferes with the ability of the test to give an accurate result. It can lead to a false low (faint line) or false negative. X

A friend told me that the risk of miscarriage drops significantly after seeing a heartbeat, I found that really comforting. A pregnancy test is a yes or no test it doesn’t tell you how pregnant you are. Your urine could be more diluted which is impacting the darkness of the line. If you are worried though is booking a private scan an option? I had a MMC last October so I understand the anxiety, my doctor who also managed my D&C is being super empathetic though and is offering me regular scans to get me through to the 12 week mark.

I wouldn’t worry! Tests will go lighter the further along you are, so I’d definitely not test again as it could make you more anxious. In regards to symptoms, they can come and go through out so again I wouldn’t worry. If you have any concerns there’s not harm in raising these concerns with your midwife but I’d say you’ll be absolutely fine☺️

I went through this even to the point it disappeared it was showing up sometimes strong, then no show, not even a faint line, then faint at other times. Try not to worry your fine, I get it sometimes the anxiety takes over whic can be challenging to overcome if possible try find something to occupy your time with.
