Antenatal visit from health visitor

I am currently 39 +2 and just had a missed call from a heath visitor asking if I'm free for an antenatal appointment tomorrow. I've googled it and apparently it's supposed to happen between 28 weeks and 36 weeks. Is this something I should have arranged before now? Has anyone else had/ not had an appointment?

I’ve not had one and not heard anything about having one? I’m 38+3

Yeah usually earlier than this, I had mine around 30 weeks x

I believe not all trusts do it and they contact some people at random that’s what I was told by my midwife. They normally just reach out to you if so but it’s nothing to be concerned about

I wouldn’t worry about when it is - mine was arranged weeks ago for tomorrow and I’ll be 38 +4 ☺️

Depends on your trust. I moved during pregnancy, the original trust were ready to book in my health visitor appointment at 28 weeks but held off because I was moving at 30 weeks. My new trust should be in contact about arranging a health visitor by the 10th day post partum they've said (🤞)

Sounds like it's just a bit hit and miss then. It's the first I'd heard of it so thought I'd done something wrong ha

They'll just come out check where baby will be sleeping if you are all set up etc how you're feeding baby and offer tips and advice it's not compulsory so if you want to decline you can but after birth you'll have the midwife on day 5 for the heel prick test and to check baby and then usually within a couple weeks of that the HV will come out introduce themselves and see how you and baby are.

I have no idea what anyone is talking about. I just got posted babys red book and told they will visit between 10-14 days after baby is born at home

My sister is due 6 days after I am and she’s just had her health visitor visit at 34 weeks and I’ve not heard a peep from mine yet at 35 weeks. But she lives in a different trust area so they all just go by their own rules it seems. I think as long as you get one soon after baby is born it’s all good 👍🏼

I had one at 28 weeks, thought I had done something wrong as none of my friends never had a visit beforehand. I researched and it’s perfectly normal just not all places have the resource. Take it, they are really helpful x

Totally normal I had mine about 2 weeks ago xx

Our health visitors just sent a letter saying they knew I was pregnant and if I wanted to see them before baby was born then to call and book an appt, if not then they’ll see us when we’re home with baby. Not sure if that’s because it’s our second baby but tbh we didn’t see them before with our first either.

We don't have a health visitor come out until after baby is born in my area!
