Talks of second

Hey, mommas! I saw my OB yesterday for my 28 week appointment, and thankfully all went well! This is my husband’s and my first child, and since we found out we’re having a baby girl, we thought— we’ve also gotta try for a baby boy! But trust me, we’re elated for a little girl. We’re just over prepared and being anxious about #2 While my husband is 32, I’m 34 and will be 35 in December. My due date for baby girl is late July. Given my age and the fact we want the two kiddos to be close in age, we’ve been trying to figure out when will be round two. Of course, my MIL had her say in this— “wait 4-5 years.” 😬 granted my dad had an opinion too, but it was more like, you gotta wait to make sure you and baby two are okay and safe. Anyway, doc said given my age, we can start round two one year after I give birth. Which seems like it’ll be right around the corner! But first… we gotta soak up all of our moments with baby girl 🖤🖤🖤

Congrats on baby girl!! 🥰. We started trying at 11months PP and got pregnant at 13 months. We are loving the gap (22 months). Especially now that baby girl is more interactive and gives big reactions to brother.

They do say to wait at least a year for your body to recover before getting pregnant again, regardless of your age. We didn't try for another but I got pregnant at exactly a year PP. I'd just come off BC that month as it wasn't suiting me. They do say you're incredibly fertile after birth haha 😅 Didn't realise it would be that quick though! In hindsight I would have liked a little bit more of a gap, there's 20m between them. A new born and a terrible twos toddler can be a bit of a handful. She's good with him though, it's sweet 🥰

@Sam Thank you! That’s a good age gap! I think seeing the siblings interact like that is so sweet

@Katie Yes indeed! I just didn’t know how my OB would respond. Oh wow! Fertile myrtle over here! 😂 Awwe, that does sound really sweet. While I know it’s going to be challenging having two little ones be so young together, my doc did make a good point! They’ll move on to their new phases in a timely manner together, so it’s not like, let’s say, you get one out of diapers and then start all over again. Etc etc. when she put it that way we were like, oh yeah… that’s very nice. Haha but she was quick to be like “BUT IT WILL BE HARD until they are both walking” 😂😂

Depending on if you have a C section or not really determines how soon your body might be ready for another pregnancy. Sometimes, getting pregnant too soon after a C section can cause your uterus to rupture, so just be careful and work with your doctor. My mom had my sister and me naturally. She waited 5 months, and we are only 14 months apart.

I’m currently 36 and pregnant with baby number 2. I had my first when I was 32-33. I wanted a girl and now I’m having my second boy lol. It’s scary with the extra warnings they give you at the OB but I’ve read that most pregnancies after 35 are smooth and healthy.

@Kelsey You’ve got that right. At this point, I’m planning on a natural birth, but hey— things can change.

@Jenna awwe! But at least boys adore their momma’s. My husband keeps poking at me how our little girl is going to “love him more.” 🙄 Honestly the convo about it with my OB was quick, but she made it known there reason why I ought to do it sooner than later is just because of fertility reasons.

Do what feels best for you and your family but they do say wait about 12 months PP for our age. I’ll be 40 in Oct. I had my baby girl last July and I’m current due this December. I’m nervous because I didn’t wait a full year but still excited.

@Jessica Oh, girl, I quite often listen to my OB when it comes to stuff like this! I’m too paranoid of messing anything up!! But I bet you’ll be just fine! What an exciting time for you and your family. And they’re gonna be so close!
