To Dance or Not to Dance

Since having my child, I've felt less autonomy over my body. I also feel less confident physically and have yet to step in the studio since before my pregnancy. I want to get back into Dance badly but feel so strange and don't know where to start or find the time. Any advice. Previously I had been Dancing for 10years..

I completely understand. I danced less and less the more pregnant I became and now when I dance I feel so weak and out of it. I try to do little workouts when I can to help my body get back into shape and when I dance at home it’s really important I play music I love and let myself have fun. I think play is key in our dance practice as we explore our bodies postpartum.

Hi Natalia, Yes girl! I slowed down after getting married, just getting weaker and weaker. Hmm, play. Where it all stated, I never thought about that. Thanks for this, I'll definitely start playing more to get back in the groove

Hi Sabi! Before getting pregnant and having my first baby, I loved going to Zumba! But I stopped dancing while I was pregnant. I took walks instead. Now I’m 9 weeks postpartum and I went to a line dance class last week. It was low intensity dancing for over 2 hours. It was a great intro into dancing again.

Get to know your body again and tone up slowly- through weights, Pilates, free dancing to music or just moving your hips again at home and through toning and workouts you’ll find your groove again. I only took up salsa/bachata 2yrs ago and at the time I was 2yrs PP but I was doing Pilates and Zumba before that. If you don’t move your body it WILL feel strange but start moving it in your own time at home and muscle memory will do the rest.

Dancing is the best stress cardio ..I do it all the time

I have too dance or I will go crazy lol
