I had a male gynae as a consultant due to suspected endometriosis. And I found him so much more understanding and thorough than any female gynae I have seen before. He believed me when I said there was a problem and the others just brushed it off
Omg don't even get me started. Unlike the ladies above, I absolutely cannot understand why a man would want to specialise in gynaecology/obstetrics. So far with 2 pregnancies I've only had negative experiences with male doctors while before I wasn't fazed either way. Personally don't think a man can possibly comment on things like bleeding, periods, cramps, smear tests etc when he had never experienced them. I had a much better experience when I requested a female doctor.
I saw a male doctor when I had a cancer scare after pregnancy, he was amazing and so so reassuring. He also has a student with him, who he took the time to explain to them what they were looking at while I was being examined. There's this weird stigma isn't there but at the end of the day we're all just made up of bits that need looking after!
I had multiple male gynaecologists due to having a complicated pregnancy and premature baby. They were all incredibly thorough and professional, when it comes down to it I found it really does not matter as they can help my baby and I. The consultant who helped deliver my baby and stitch me back up was also male. I couldn’t be anymore grateful for what they did.
I had malem ob doctor who help me do a great birth plan as I was super high risk. When I was in labour I had another male doctor who was super nice and even when he check me down there he was more gentle then any midwife was. After I gave birt , I had 3 tears and another male doctor was doing the stitches and all 3 of them were amazing! I feel like they can be more gentle then the lady doctors. For me only good experience with male docs ! :)
I initially was against it, just due to feeling uncomfortable. However the male surgeon who helped deliver my baby was the best, friendliest and most caring of all the people I saw during my induction and birth, so now I have no issue with it
