I had the Mirena and it was worst experience of my life. I did bleed after they put it in. I had it for a year and I actually stoped bleeding for a while. Hormonally I was a hot mess, I even had cyst that were cause by it. After I took it out I bleed a lot. I am on the pill and I am so happy!
@Nathalie I may have to try the pill again. Just worry about missing one
I bled for about 3.5 months after getting an IUD. This is my third IUD. I had a mirena my first IUD and I got pregnant on it in the 4th year… the second IUD I had was paraguard. When I decided to take it out it was with the intention of getting pregnant and Welp I did not even have a chance to get my period because I got pregnant right away! Now I am back on the mirena 😅 after the bleeding it gets better. I love it. prior to any IUD I had heavy periods with large blood clots and severe cramps. It was only while on the marina that all of those symptoms subsided on the paraguard it actually made it all worse. 10+ days of bleeding with each period!
@Mercedes good, some positive then!
I have paraguard. Best decision ever. This is my second one. Periods are the same ranging from 5 days to 7 days. I tried mirena and ended up pregnant and miscarrying within months of having it placed. With each one never bled after placement only spotted for a day or two. I guess each person is different. Good luck with your bc journey.
I have been MIA however I come back with an update regarding my mirena. I have had it in for a little over a year and I’m getting ready to take it out. These last few periods have been really irregular and I just stopped bleeding today which would have made my period 20 days long. And I’m not entirely sure if that was a. I started bleeding around the beginning of June and that lasted about 14 days and then I had a six day break with no bleeding and then bleeding started back up and just end it today. My fiancé, my mother, and my aunt all have advised me to take it out. And this time I’m going to listen!
*And I’m not entirely sure that was a period.
In February of this year, I was diagnosed with diverticulitis and that is when my period started to really become irregular and just not what I’m normally used to. I am not sure if my birth control has moved or if maybe it’s even punctured my uterus. I will find out soon enough though.
I would be very careful and go back and make sure they placed it correctly. I had my iud in 6 months with non stop bleeding and it ended up not being placed right and I was pregnant with twins 8 months after my 2nd baby. 😞
