They have no accuracy is telling how close you are to delivery. I’m not sure why they are still offered. Surprisingly, this was my third pregnancy and first time no one offered it.
My OB said they don’t do them anymore unless a patient specifically wants one. I was glad, as I’d heard a lot of women lead to believe they were necessary. So much of this process is new and unusual I wouldn’t have questioned it if they told me to do it (like the butt swab test they gave me last week 😅)
I do it if I’m actively contracting and don’t want to go into labor which I was at 36 weeks. Luckily we are 38 weeks tomorrow still having routine contractions but now I don’t have to worry about her coming early. Therefore I haven’t been checked in two weeks and I’m not worried anymore as my summer plans have finished as of tonight and now just waiting for her arrival. I wish more woman would be educated on them though but there is way too much to be educated on in pregnancy
Yea I blame myself. I knew they weren’t necessary and let my curiosity take over.
I'm surprised your OB wanted to do one without reason to. During my first pregnancy my OB didn't do one until I was having labor signs. I'm currently 38 weeks to the day and have been having some early labor signs for the past few days. When I go to my appointment mid week I'm going to ask for a cervical check because I have a feeling this baby is coming early.
It was my choice. I’m older so I had to tell her if I want to be induced at 39 weeks which is recommended. It’s a hard decision for me I prefer not to be so figured I would see if I’m making any progress naturally but unfortunately I wasn’t.
I deny every time there’s really no need for them at all
