Potty training..

Honestly sometimes I feel so embarrassed but idk what else I can do at this point. My son is still not potty trained at all.. we have tried legit everything, at this point we are just waiting until he tells us he is ready... I mean I legit told him if he just went and tried the potty (I know he would probably go if he tried) I would drive him to target at that moment and buy him a toy 😂 He will scream if you try to have him sit and I don't want to make him afraid so we don't push it but idk if we just should at this point?

Show your support

Don’t be embarrassed, it happens. Have you tried showing him potty training videos? Like kid cartoon like potty videos to encourage him? That’s the only thing that worked for us

There’s a really good website called ERIC (children’s bladder and bowel charity) that has lots of tips around potty training. They also have an advice line that’s open one day a week (think it’s a Thursday morning). Your health visitor, or if they’re in nursery can also support with potty training 😊

My son's nursery were amazing with potty training! As he went straight back after starting at home at the wknd, they kept charts of when he went and gave him "wow" cards when he did good. The good news is he won't start school until next September so you have lots of time to do it! Keep the conversation open, are all his friends wearing big boy pants? That's usually a massive encouragement for them! Reward charts, stickers and prizes when he goes are a huge help too. (There's a boy in my son's nursery room that is only just been trained now and he goes to school in September, so do not panic!)

My son is the exact same - we actually only started two days ago and with a very low impact approach of wanting to just get him to like the potty and consider using it. First day he did a pee in the potty, yesterday he just peed on the carpet immediately after 10 minute stints on the potty, and today he sat on but wouldn’t go. I feel at a loss and embarrassed but wanted you to know you aren’t alone. He just doesn’t seem to know and isn’t bothered and it worries me that he’s behind other kids.
