Immunology Testing

Hoping for some advice. We have had six unsuccessful rounds of IVF in the UK using mine and my husband’s own eggs and sperm. We then decided to go to the Czech Republic to try embryo donation. I got pregnant for the very first time with a genetically tested embryo but unfortunately, it ended in miscarriage. The clinic has now recommended I have immunology and thrombophilia testing before we try embryo donation again. This is the only type of testing I haven’t had. I’m very hesitant about the immunology testing, as the HFEA rates this as red and there is no convincing evidence that maternal immune cells cause pregnancy failure. This will be our 8th and final attempt, so we want to ensure we are trying all possibilities for a successful outcome. Any experience of these tests would be appreciated. Thanks.

My best friend (we went through the IVF process together) after several failed IVFs had this immunology testing and it turned out that her cells were seeing the baby as a threat and attacked it. She went through a certain process that she would have injections throughout her whole pregnancy and she now has a lovely baby girl! Given though that you are hesitant, engage with another clinic to get a second opinion

We had 6 miscarriages following IVF transfers, all of the babies came back as being genetically normal following testing. We went down the route of immunology testing as all of my other tests had come back normal, I had elevated thyroid peroxidase antibodies and elevated natural killer cells. Following treatment for these our 7th transfer resulted in our miracle baby girl 11 weeks ago 💞 we’ll never know if the treatment is the thing that worked for us or not but we were at the point where we had exhausted all other options and that was all we had left, thankfully it seemed to work for us x

@C.P. Thanks for your reply. That’s interesting. Did your friend have the tests done in the UK? I’m struggling to find a clinic that does all the tests my clinic has recommended. Our other option is to have the tests in the Czech Republic.

@Jade thanks for your reply. Congratulations on your baby girl. Could I ask where you had the tests done? We are nearing that exhaustion stage too. x

@Naomi no! she leaves in Greece actually
