Maternity leave lonely

I feel quite fortune that I’ve got a few mum friends with babies similar ages that I am meet for coffee etc but I get home and I still feel SO lonely. I’m just left with my own thoughts. Anyone else got any tips to make the day less lonely or silent?!

I am here if you ever what to chat x

@Kate Thanks Kate! Just adjusting to partner being back at work and a quiet house I think!

I found myself feeling like this when my husband went back to work and having one way conversations with the baby and animals. Whilst I do have a couple of days where I have no plans so I can 'wing it', I do go to some baby groups to see other adults and to have 2 way conversations.

I’m single so I’ve not experienced what it’s like to have someone else there. I tend to have the radio, music or a podcast on in the background to make it less silent. I try to get out with baby every day, ideally to somewhere where I’ll speak to people, but often we just go to the shops or for a walk in the park. There’s loads around though, I’ve been doing baby massage and going to a breastfeeding support group at my local children’s centre. I also call family and friends if I’m feeling lonely and just chat for a bit.

I know how you feel my husband works 12 hours shifts and a have 8 weeks old and a 2 year old to look after xx

I felt like this with my first child because I was use to working full time and always being in a busy environment. I really struggled. On the funny side, now with my daughter being almost 3 and baby boy 9 weeks, I crave being on my own 🤣. I promise the loneliness will pass, the babies get bigger and become your little shadows. It’s wonderful. If you can, try and find a book or podcast and enjoy the naps whilst you can 💖💙. You’re doing amazing mama xxx
