Mine does the same, he’s 3 as well. Sometimes his response is “I don’t know”. At first, I realized he didn’t fully understand the meaning of “why”. He understands “what” but was still struggling with “why”. So I had to rephrase.
Yes. They have so much processing in their brains at this age, it’s very difficult to find those words to articulate it the way they want. My son can be a people (Mommy and Grsndma) pleaser. Mine wants to get his point across but having a hard time saying it, makes him feel a little defeated and he just gets frustrated and says no no no! That’s when it’s getting close to bedtime or he needs to eat. Def my kid! lol
Thank you girls for your responses! It’s comforting to know I’m not the only one experiencing this! As you know looking things up on the internet always makes things worse.
My daughter repeats and mimics often. Sometimes she wants me to repeat after her when she's reciting colors or counting. It can be frustrating. Especially since sge will kerp saying it repeatedly until i respind at times. I try to respond saying good job or telling her yes, that's correct because I don't want her to feel ignored. I'm trying to figure out a to break the habit before she starts school in September.
