I’m currently 24w and I’ve been using once since 18w. I don’t use it for reassurance I just like hearing her movements so my partner can hear and feel her to. I can pick up her heartbeat very easily now tho. I’m glad I waited until I was further along as I think if I had gotten it before I did I would have worried and obsessed even more. Its defo calmed my anxiety down tho xx
I haven't got one because I'm one of those people who would be afraid of calling and "bothering" the midwives or maternity ward and I almost want to be forced to call if I have to, even if I think it's to calm my anxiety. Now I have anterior placenta definitely not. I'm 25 weeks and it took my midwife long enough to track down her heart beat on her Doppler nevermind me doing it. It was in the way so she had to go right round the side to find it.
Ive got abit like that ive started getting into a pattern doing his heartbeat.. with him moving now alot more i have stopped as much but it is nice to hear every so often.. it is so lovely to hear it though definetly calms the anxiety x
I not even heard my little man's heartbeat. should I have done by now??
@Kirstie depends on how far along you are, I’m currently 24 weeks and I’ve been able to hear the heartbeat at private scans that I’ve paid for, not had the nhs listen to it yet x
I am also 24 weeks, I wonder if I will get to hear it.. I mite ask the midwife wen I see her on Thursday :)
@Kirstie No completely normal not to hear it. The only reason my midwife looked for mine is because I'd gone in for dizziness, nearly fainted and I'd had a change in movements so she was giving me a check over. They don't tend to do it until much later on in the pregnancy now because it can be really difficult to find because they're still small and if they can't, it causes HUGE anxiety (obviously) when baby is probably fine. I was coming up to 25 weeks.
@Bethan ahhh that makes sense. thank u so much x
@Kirstie yeah and my blood pressure when she was hunting for my babies trying to get past my placenta. I can totally get it 🙈. In reality probably took her about 30 seconds, just about caught her at the side of my placenta. 30 seconds felt like an hour and I wasn't even overly worried when I got in the bed!
I had a baby last year and bought one, I used quite a lot but never for reassurance. Now with this pregnancy I've used it just once so far, maybe because I don't have as much free time looking after my 10m old baby or because it's not that "fun" anymore 😂. Anyway I can't see why not having one to use it every now and then if you fancy hearing baby's heartbeat. I bought a second hand one in vinted quite cheap and it was definitely worth it.
