Separation anxiety

I’m at a loss. My almost 8 year old has developed such severe separation anexiety. I don’t know what else to do to help her. It is affecting her physically, mentally, and emotionally. It is breaking my heart watching her struggle. Has anyone else dealt with this situation with your kiddo before, and what did you do to help?

Please do not take offense with what I am about to say. I’m a first time mommy so I don’t know exactly what to do here. I would recommend counseling first. When I first got my dog he had had it and the way I helped him was taking little trips. Sometimes just 1 minute, sometimes 5, and eventually 1/2 hour to hours. I would say the same phrase every time I left to ensure comfort so he understood I’m not leaving forever. And I’m coming back. But I would greatly recommend counseling. Something could’ve happened (the lost of a loved one even) that could have triggered this response for your baby. I am sure they have tools to reassure them
