Diapers/ Pull-ups

My 1 year old son (18 months on Friday) will not stop talking off his diapers I brought this up to his pediatrician 3 months back and she suggested pull-ups. I tried pull-ups for a few weeks BUT he quickly figured out how to take them off so I went back to diapers. Keep in mind it doesn’t matter what I put him in (onsies, footy pajamas, etc.) he astonishingly finds a way to take the diapers off. Monday morning I found him naked with his diaper and footy pajamas right next to him…all while in his crib. He constantly flushes the toilets in our apartment every chance he gets. Now with all that in mind…can someone help a girl out and give tips…advice…anything to help with this? I thought that toddlers don’t start potty training till they’re like 2-3 years old. Am I crazy? HELP!

You could definitely try to potty train now if you want but if all else fails maybe use duck tape. My parents had to do it on me because I was taking my diaper off and throwing around and getting poop everywhere. I would also start to tell him not to do that and if he does it while awake and you see if do some kind of discipline

My son is 18 months now & we’ve been introducing potty sitting since he was 7 months old. He successfully pees in the toilet every morning & at every diaper change! That’s about as far as our efforts go so far, but there’s no set age for potty training, science indicates that 14-24 months is the sweet spot for learning potty skills but there’s no such thing as too early or too late!

He telling you he’s ready my so. Did the same thing you have to put him on the toilet

My daughter did the same thing so I started putting her on a potty training seat 1st thing in the morning and after naps. She has that down at almost 19 months and has started coming to me while pushing and whining to go poop, hates it in her diaper. Potty training is about following your child's lead and gently showing them what you're asking.

maybe that’s how way of letting you know it’s time to potty train

Does anyone have a good recommendation for the toilet training? Is it just a topper on top of the toilet?

@Susan Magarian look for a potty training chair that also has an insert for the top of the toilet as potty training progresses.
