Not talking

My son is about to turn 17 months and he won’t say mama. He has said dada before but won’t say it regularly. Says some random things like fish, ball, up and pa (grandpa) Should I be worried?

Ask pediatrician for early intervention referral. Ur child can be accessed for speech/language delays. I won't say be worried, but getting hi. The help sooner than later will save time and possibly money

have u tried Ms.Rachel ?

@Sue yes, that’s the only thing he will watch. He loves her. Still won’t say mama, he usually wants to skip that part lol

My 17 month old has said mama and mommy but does not say it often, maybe 5-10 times in total. Says dada, daddy, baby, dog, yes, that, this and sometimes sounds like he says love you or thank you but for sure doesn’t say the amount of words he’s “supposed” to. He also doesn’t say those words on command, just when he feels like it. I’ve always heard give it until atleast 18-24 months and if it’s still the same or little improvements seek speech therapy. My little one is super advanced physically. Running, climbing everything, jumping up and down, riding his little foot/push bike thing around the house. Sits in chairs. I have always heard a lot of times they also develop quickly physically and then speech takes time or vice versa. Hang in there you’re not alone! The fear of for sure comes with worry and I think all mamas feel this way at some point with development ♥️

@Erinn my son is the same way physically very advanced. I hope it’s just that, thank you! ☺️
