Honestly today would be the day! We used the farms almanac for weaning back in January and it was an absolute breeze even after she recently became more attached. Today is the best day to wean the next is July 30th
I may go cold turkey with my son. Worked with breastfeeding and going from bottles to sippy cups, so I think he’s a child who benefits from going cold turkey
I did, I just hid them all one day while she was playing outside with dad 😅 went better than expected. She only cried for like 10 minutes 2 nights. Now she just copy’s her 3 year old sister and sucks her thumb instead 🤦🏻♀️😅 Btw I’m also due in October with my 3rd. What’s your due date
@Gabrielle nice! I'm glad it went so well. I'm due Oct 8!
@Makelle well now idk if her sucking her thumb is worse lol. And awesome, I’m due the 23rd
We dropped them for my son right before his second birthday. He was only using them at night and nap but we would have several in his crib at a time. I started reducing the number in his crib each week until I got down to two. He understood the concept of a toy breaking, so I started cutting a teeny hole in the two that were left and kept saying they were getting old and breaking. A couple days later I cut the holes a little bigger and at that point he agreed they were broken and we threw them away. It was much easier than I expected and he had been VERY attached up until then
With my twins (born 5/4/22), my son weaned himself at 5m when he started teething. My girl, we did a cold turkey cut at 14m, but she had already stopped having her paci more than half the day and only at night/nap. She didn't cut teeth until after 1, so I kept her on her paci until she started teething. I just put her down one night without her paci and never gave her one again. She did use her cups (only gave water at bedtime) and chewed it to sooth herself to sleep for a bit but only for a month or so.
Would love to know how you did this. Mine love her
@Hope thank you, that's helpful and gives me hope! I'm so nervous because she's really attached too, and my husband and I are nervous about it. It hurts our hearts lol
We've been talking up the "binky fairy" and how she brings a special present to kids who send their binkies to her. I think I'm going to have her put them in the mailbox after nap time (so we can start the binky detox at night when she's more sleepy) and then we'll check the mailbox like a little later and find her special present. Then maybe us playing with her present, and her seeing that there's no binkies in the mailbox will help solidify it for her?
