Thoughts on Moses baskets

Was thinking of getting a Moses basket and transferring to cot when too big. I’ve heard a few people say they found the Moses basket didn’t last long at all! Are they any good?

I’ve heard they’re good but last literally a handful of weeks. My friends babies all outgrew theirs by 6 weeks. So maybe get one really cheap second hand with a new mattress if you want one . We’ve got a next to me crib which should last around 6 months for the bedroom 🤞🏼 Just trying to work out a safe sleeping place for downstairs. X

We have a Moses basket for downstairs and a next to me crib upstairs. The next to me will definitely last you longer

https://www.argos.co.uk/product/3870969 I just got this one for £36 on Argos. Looks like the code has expired now though. I didn’t use mine much the last time as baby preferred to contact nap. But I have a toddler this time so need somewhere safe to put baby x

If you’re looking to get a Moses basket I’d definitely look on fb marketplace or something as they’ll be selling for cheap on there as baby doesn’t last long in them at all, saves you spending lots x

Definitely check charity shops, car boots etc! They don’t last long but super useful to have downstairs to just pop baby down

We will but planning a second hand one!

My son wouldn't sleep in his downstairs but also wouldn't sleep in his next to me.... But he slept in his moses basket when I placed it in the next to me 🤣🤣 As above, look on marketplace or charity shops etc.

Another thing to consider is the baby changing where they sleep. So if they get used to the moses basket , after 6 weeks they are too big and then you need to get them uses to a new bed. I thought it was worth getting them used to their bed straight away

George Asda do fairly cheap Moses baskets and stands so I may get one from there incase baby outgrows it before 6 months.

My son outgrew his moses basket in 3 months

@Nicole for my first baby we used an Asda Moses basket and going to reuse it for this baby too

@Claire how long did it last before your 1st outgrew it?

They usually outgrow them at 3-4 months but I’d say it’s definitely worth it and it’s more enclosed than a standard sized cot and babies like being enclosed because it reminds them of being in the womb xx

we're going straight into a cot to avoid any issues that could come when transitioning her from mosses basket-cot x

@Nicole I can’t actually remember! I do remember she was in it probably longer than she should have been!

My friends are on their second baby and they used the Moses basket all the time with the first, sold it, and then bought another one for their new bub. Depends on what you intend on using it for.

I have a Moses basket for downstairs and a snuzpod for in our room. There are plenty out there aren't expensive. But looking at the size of it I don't see why it wouldn't last until they are rolling over.
