Undermined by family *long post*

I wanna preface this by saying I don’t want to come across like I’m not grateful for all the help I get from family, as this is my first pregnancy and I definitely could use the guidance. HOWEVER! There are some things that are just better safe than sorry. *story* My grandma ever since she found out I’m pregnant, had been buying baby stuff off of FB Marketplace. Awesome! I love getting things on a deal, and I am not a picky person. Recently she found a Doona brand stroller for $50 + some baby clothes for $20.. so $70 altogether. I check the stroller out, everything works on it. I thought how cool to get one for cheap! When I told one of my expecting friends, she asked about the expiration date. I had no idea there was one for car seats? So I asked my grandma to check it out for me just for reassurance that it was still valid to use. Grandma calls me LAUGHING at me, saying “we aren’t talking about food here! What’s gonna expire on it?” And I explained that it’s a safety feature because the locks, seatbelts, etc. can expire. She laughed me off once again saying “I’ve never heard of such a thing!” So I told her I will check next time I visit, and sent her screenshots that car seats do in fact expire. Am I wrong for being a little frustrated? I love my grandma to death, but some things I feel like I get undermined for because she’s never done it or heard about it. Does anybody know if a hospital will let you bring a baby home in an expired car seat? (Idk if it is or not, just rather be safe than sorry)

I completely get this!!! It's like I understand that they have good intentions but I feel like those good intentions can only go so far, especially if you can't use the item anyways

My hospital will not allow you to bring a baby home in an expired car seat. I'm not sure about others!

My hospital never check my car seat out for a date or anything. Usually car seats expire 6-10 years depending on the brand.
