4 week old not pooped for 24hrs

Hi, My 4 week old boy has not had a poop for nearly 24hrs. He is exclusively breastfed with the exception of having 1 formula bottle of (2oz) just before bed. I can hear a lot of belly rumbling, but he is eating and sleeping well. Is this normal? Or should I consult with the health visitor?

This can happen, sometimes younger babies can go up to 3 days without pooping. So long as babies weeing okay and getting plenty of milk it should be fine. If you’re worried about it definitely get him checked out :)

@Victoria he literally had the biggest explosion 5 minutes after typing this and driving myself crazy. But it’s the only poop he’s had today, whereas yesterday he had pooped 4x. I’ve been told that newborns from the 4/5 week mark usually have a change in pooping and can go days without pooping as long as there’s plenty of wet nappies xx

Oh bless him, at least he got it out now😅 yeah I have been told the same as it happened with my first and I was concerned so asked my health visitor but so long as there’s plenty of wet nappies it’s okay. My second baby goes a few days without sometimes and then 2 or 3 poos in one day. So long as they’re okay in themselves just trust your mum gut 🙂 xx
