I use cloth, and cloth wipes. I need a pocket that doesn’t have the weird slit for my wipes, as well as a pocket for my soap bottle for when I don’t have water. Space like LeNae said for the diapers before and after use.
I personally use a regular backpack for mine just for the extra room. I usually just take 1-4 inserts with me and use the shell my child is in when we leave. I just need space for those and the wet bag, we use disposable when we go out. So not really different needs but maybe things are slightly bulkier.
@Grace wait WHAT you use the same diaper for multiple shells? Are they pocket or covers? I’m intrigued now 😗
@Bella I have this style(leaving a link) and you put the absorbent insert on the baby and then you put a water proof cover over it. So yeah I love these! I don't have this brand but I it is the same thing. https://www.greenmountaindiapers.com/collections/cloth-eez-brand/products/workhorse-organic?variant=27234091592
For a bag I personally love my big wet bags from Designer Bums and Close Parent. They have snaps that can attach to almost anything like on the stroller handle, train or plane so I don’t have to put the bag on the counter. They have a separate pocket where I can put really soiled diapers or clothes if I don’t have my mini wet bag to separate when out and about. It’s not bulky, I bring them to stadiums too. The designer bums bag is my favorite because of the prints and it can be worn as a backpack too. Both bags are machine washable and can fit a good amount of inserts and pockets, pack of wipes, saline drops, medicine, changing mat, and spare clothes.
I think the big thing is space. Cloth diapers take up more space and need another bag to go into/with it to hold the diapers once they’re used. So if I don’t have a pocket for all that I end up needing to carry extra stuff that should have been in the bag
