Ectopic pregnancy

Hi ladies 👋🏼 My sister had an ectopic pregnancy a while ago and I think she might be pregnant again. What did the beginning of pregnancy look like for anyone that had an ectopic before? I want to be able to accommodate her as best as I can if she is pregnant.

What did pregnancy look like after the ectopic?

My sister had ectopic pregnancy last year and now a year later same month she got pregnant again!! She is currently 8 weeks!! Going good so far!! She doesn’t feel like eating anything.. I’ll also follow your post to find out more to support my sister💚

@Harman Kaur I wonder, is it different this time? Like did she go to her first appointment sooner than a normal one?

Yes as soon as she found out she was pregnant she booked her appointment!! It’s important because they will do an ultrasound to make sure baby is in uterus this time.. last time she had ectopic meaning baby was in fallopian tube and she had emergency surgery and ended up losing that fallopian tube. So doctors said next time they will monitor her from the start… luckily this time baby is in uterus so we are very happy for her.. this time she said she just has some occasional back pain but it’s very mild and tolerable.. that’s all I know

I had an ectopic 3 months before I fell pregnant again (currently 18 weeks), you have to refer yourself but NHS will see you at 5 weeks to check baby is in right place and check again at 7 for a heart beat. If all is well it’s no longer classed as high risk and you go through the usual process.

I have just found out I'm pregnant again after a ruptured ectopic in December. I don't know if this one is also ectopic yet as my scan isn't until next week (6 weeks) but last time I had a lot of dark implantation bleeding at about 4 weeks (I thought I was having a period) whereas I've not had that this time or in my previous pregnancy

I also had bleeding with my ectopic which is why I had an early scan and they found it. Second time round nothing. If that helps. I didn’t have any other symptoms to indicate it was ectopic originally.

With my ectopic I didn't find out until I was in the hospital being rushed to surgery, bleeding out internally cuz it had ruptured. There was enough damage that I lost the fallopian tube and the other one was so scarred up due to a surgical adhesion from my previous c section that if I got pregnant again it'd probably be an ectopic again so they removed that one too. So no more pregnancies for me after all that. I hope your sister has much better luck than I did!
