I went in at 1.5cm dilated, 30% effaced. 4 doses got me to 5cm, although I had diarrhea and vomited so not the best experience. I eventually got to 10cm just from cytotec.
Thanks for sharing @Tiff Was the pain with Cytotec and Foley manageable or how did you manage it?
@Kira D. Thanks for sharing! Was the pain with Cytotec and Foley manageable or how did you manage it?
I only took cytotec, no Foley catheter. Once I got to 6cm, I asked for epidural as contractions were super painful.
@Kira D. Sorry to bother. One last question. Did you deliver vaginally?
This was my third baby, and only time being induced and with cytotec to start and it didn’t increase my pain, I just had my same contractions…it sucked to have them for so long and see no progress…I was pretty against the Foley, but they all convinced me so I was at that frustrated point of just wanting to speed things up. It didn’t hurt, just some pressure. It did work, but I will add that the birth was fine, no stitches, no issues, no immediate pp issues, I was feeling great…then 3.5 weeks postpartum seemingly out of nowhere I had extreme pain, went to the hospital in an ambulance and was told I had Endometritis. They said it was an infection that if untreated can cause sepsis, so I was hospitalized and had a long series of unfortunate events to follow…im still dealing with issues and actually have my now 3rd surgery Thursday…. the Dr mentioned that the Foley Balloon technically could have prompted it.
@Tiff Thanks for taking time in sharing your story. Hope your endometriosis goes away soon for good.
Of course! (And not correcting you in a weird way, just making sure everyone understands the distinction because I had never heard of it) it wasn’t Endometriosis, it was Endometritis which is an infection we are at risk of postpartum from leftover placental tissue, or any postpartum material or structures left after birth…or, in reference to the Foley, they explained anytime you have anything additional placed inside of you in a vulnerable time, it adds to the risk of getting infection later. And thank you! We shall see ♥️
@Tiff Thanks for pointing that out. That's something new I'm learning today.
I came in 1cm dilated. Was given cytotec for over 24hrs…I think 6x? And was at max closer to 2cm dilated so they ended up telling me I could go home and wait it out again…or get a foley balloon. I did the balloon and after 4hrs, it broke my water and I had the baby immediately.
