Ah it’s a tough one but you can’t avoid germs entirely and there’s plenty of people that have newborns and toddlers in nursery so I wouldn’t worry too much. Unless you’re confined to the house, there’s a good chance over the winter months your toddler would pick up bugs just from being out and about anyway etc. it’ll give you some time with the baby and him so time to have fun so personally if it was me I’d keep him in nursery x
Ah whenever he starts playgroup, he'll catch anything. Ours was hit and miss. Have weeks with nothing, then some weeks she'll be sick. But I wouldn't delay it due to that. As they also bounce back incredibly quick too! Also, you'll definitely want the respite from your toddler. I love her, but I have a 12week old and the 2 days she's at nursery. I can breathe a bit or even have time for my newborn and she gets attention there. Also need to start the process before baby, so there's no big change/alteration when baby is here. You'll need those days to get by xx
Thank you all, I think my thoughts were also along the same lines and I just needed to hear it from others too! Thanks xx
I’ve also got a due date of Jan and my partner and I have decided to keep her in nursery while I’m on maternity leave. There are always going to be bugs and germs wherever you go but we think the benefits for both our toddler and the time we can spend with our newborn during the day outweighs this.
I’d look more of the positive side and the benefits of playgroup for your son… I’d send him and see how he settles.. established and maintaining routines are important when baby comes along. Having an older child they will always bring things home and they can’t really be avoided
