Phonics basket - ‘a’

Leading on from my last post, as my son has been showing an interest in different sounds and is also beginning to recognise some letters, I decided to start teaching him some phonics. Normally when teaching phonics “properly” we start with letters like m, a, s, d, t in preparation for them blending words to read, but as I’m just introducing him to letter sounds I’ve decided to just work my way through the alphabet A-Z as I won’t be showing him how to blend just yet. In the basket I added some objects that begin with the letter sound ‘a’, and I also added a colouring sheet, a little Aa puzzle and some pictures of ‘a’ words. He was great at picking up the ‘a’ sound and repeating words back to me. Throughout the day I have been showing him the ‘a’ flashcard for him to recognise and say and he’s been doing a fab job 😊 I’ll stick with ‘a’ for a couple of days before moving on. Also, Buzz is there for ‘astronaut’ 🤣

Save my child. 🤣 Her mother just learnt the word phonics. Sometimes it's a worry being clueless but I'm here for it 👏
