Anyone else considering or booked in for an elective c section either maternal request or medical need? Would love to get your experience on this and how you’re feeling :)

I'm trying to decide between induction or c section at 37 weeks. Totally torn keep going one way then the other.

I'm having an elective c section after my first pregnancy ended in emergency section following a failed induction. We have a toddler and induction or waiting to go into labour just doesn't work as we are very limited with child care. I feel so much more relaxed that I have a date, my partner can sort his time off and we have childcare sorted.

im choosing an elective c section due to health conditions that would limit how far i’d have energy to go through with labour, unsure when i’ll get my booked in date though possibly in october at my consultant appointment

I have an elective section, booked for the 23rd December. Had one last time due to complications but don't need one this time. I decided it was easier knowing when baby would arrive, especially when planning childcare over Christmas x

Also choosing an elective c section for similar reasons to above, firstly i was so nearly induced last time until at the last minute i felt kicks really low down and ended up baby had turned at the minute and was transverse so kept in overnight for a c section the next day, i had a really good recovery the first time, had very little bleeding as they give you a "good clear out", i did end up with an infection in my wound but even at that i wasnt unwell with it and probably the most important reason, our first will only be 18/19 months old so having child care etc on hand is essential and so much easier if prearranged.

Yes, mine is already booked for 28th December. I also chose one with baby 1.

I’ve been set on an elective cs since planning this pregnancy coz I had an emergency one due to failed induction on my first. Social media is making me consider a VBAC now sooooo my consultant said I have until my 32 weeks appointment to decide. I’m also conflicted

I’m booked for an elective on 2nd December. Last pregnancy I ended up with an unplanned section after a failed induction. Even though I am a VBAC candidate, I decided that the chances of it being successful (40% in my case) were too low, so section it is. The consultant did say that almost all women have a wobble about halfway through their pregnancy and wonder if an elective is the right thing. I’m 29w tomorrow, I haven’t given it a second thought, I’m happy with my decision. The thought of going through hours of labour to potentially end in another section just fills me with dread, I was so tired and spaced out by the time I got to theatre last time. I also like the idea of knowing when it is, so I can plan for our daughter xx

Yes I have no choice as I have placenta previa x

I’ve chosen an elective, I’m currently 30weeks and started to get really nervous about it despite already having an emergency section 3 years ago 😂 It’s the best decision as I want to avoid another Emergancy, plus we have a 3 year old now so will be much easier to be able to plan childcare for him. x

How are all you guys booked for electives already? I am defo going elective for health reasons and would love to have a date ! <3

@Kimberley it’s my second baby and I had a Caesarian with baby 1 too, so I’m under obstetrician care anyway. It’s also down to your hospital, mine has started their staff for Christmas and new year including the theatre availability already. I was booked in weeks ago but every hospital is different xx

@Alison me also x
