So we started with a potty in the living room just so he could get use to sitting on it, but later down the road he started using the big toilet and now just tells us when he needs to pee. Still working on the poop part cuz he tells us either in the middle of pooping or afterwards but some people use treats or a rewards system
I used a sticker chart with my son, he would get a small toy after 20 stickers. First I gave him a sticker after every time he used the toilet, then I only gave one for poops when peeing was no issue, then I gave one if he made it the whole day with no accidents, and now we are working on overnight potty training. It has worked well for us. One tip is, don't use pull ups. (You can still use them at night and for naps). Just get him to wear training underwear during the day (or no underwear if you can stay home) so he can feel the sensation of peeing. If he wears diapers sometimes and not others it can be confusing for them and cause regressions. Our daycare made him wear pull-ups and he always peed in them but was great at home. When I asked them if we could use underwear at daycare he has had no accidents since.
I did the same as you. He would Sit on it before bath for fun. We didn’t do formal training until 22 months (winter and a long weekend) we did 3 days of the naked method and it seemed to work okay until we added pants back in. We tried for a couple days with pants but it just wasn’t clicking so I waited until after the holidays and did it again at 26 months and he got it instantly. Between 22 and 26 months he still used the potty lots and was dry most times I just didn’t have the time I wanted to dedicate to training until later. I think I would have added pants in earlier during that first 3 days
Hi Courtney read oh crap potty training book and follow it it works very well with our boy. Good luck
