Miscarriage

Hi everyone. Just had a miscarriage last week. Is it safe to start trying again right away? Do I just wait until I stop bleeding?

So sorry to hear this, I miscarried on the 7th so I’m with you 💔You probably won’t ovulate for at least a few weeks. I plan to give myself a few cycles to recover before I try again but technically it’s usually safe to try again this cycle. You might purchase some ovulation test strips to figure out the best timing

In the same situation and looking for advice. I’d love to start trying again right away

I lost my baby girl last week and is so devastated. I’m 30 and she was my first baby. We’re planing to wait 1 year for now.

I want to start trying as soon as possible.

So sorry to hear about your lost. Depending on why the miscarriage occurred your provider can give you more info about when it’s safe to try again. We lost our daughter 11.11.23 and I found out I was pregnant the beginning of February this year and now 5 weeks away from delivering a baby boy. Praying for you and your journey mama 🫶🏾🫶🏾

With all of my losses my Drs recommended to start trying once I had no leftover HCG in my system (took about 5w) and my period had come (for dating purposes)

So sorry for your loss. You need to wait to stop bleeding and then wait for a negative pregnancy test because if you try right away and you get a positive test then you won’t know if it’s left over hormones from the loss or a new pregnancy x

Sorry to hear 💔 I miscarried in June, we tried pretty much straight away. As it came away naturally, I didn’t have a cycle and I’m now 15 weeks pregnant x

I’m so sorry to hear 😔 I just found out I miscarried too on Friday. Being my age (42) I want to start trying again as well, but going to give myself time to heal and body to clear. I hope you find the answers you’re looking for.

I’m sorry for your loss. We got pregnant after our miscarriage after I had a period. Although they recommend waiting for 2 periods. Wishing you all the best x

Let your body recover first. People will tell you you can start again now (don’t) or once you have your first period….give yourself time. You can still get a uterine infection caused by some tissue remaining in the uterus even after a D&C. You will bleed for some time and this isn’t the best time for a new implantation. Instead discuss with a doctor what the reason for the miscarriage was and try to treat it as it can be hormones, it might not be able to be diagnosed without a procedure and so on. Try to minimize the chance for a second miscarriage by giving your body some time. I would recommend starting again once your HCG completely leaves your body and this isn’t always when you first get your period but when you fully test negative. For me it took almost 2 months.

Sorry for your loss 💕 I’m with you on this one. I had surgical management of a missed miscarriage about 9 days ago and I want to start trying again now. My surgeon said we can have sex again when I stop bleeding which I have.. HCG is still positive in my system though but I don’t want to ‘waste’ any time?! It does annoy me abit that doctors say it’s for dating purposes but isn’t that just to help them rather than us? X

I’m so sorry for your loss. 😢 I’ve been there too so I can totally relate. I personally gave my body a few months to rest then found out 4 months later I was pregnant (which took me by surprise as we weren’t really trying!) and my son is now one year old ☺️

I was advised to wait until I had my next period, but I've also heard as long as you wait long enough that you are testing negative again it's ok

So sorry to hear of your loss, it’s tough, and totally personal as to when you want to start trying again. For us we wanted to try straight away, as I’m not getting any younger! So started 2 weeks after the miscarriage (when I had stopped bleeding) and head you are very fertile in this time. But 5 weeks after d&c I was still testing positive and my hospital wouldn’t see me to check if there was any retained tissue because we had had sex 😣 so my advice would be to wait until you get a negative pregnancy test and then start trying again… just so your clearer on what wiki body is doing:) good luck! X

@Boryana every body is different but i totally agree this decision should be made with your doctor. i tested negative a week after and was cleared to try again after i got my period which was only another week.

@Alli Absolutely. It depends a lot of how far along you were too. But even doctors sometimes don’t know you and your body as well as you do and if you feel like you’re not healing right even that your doctor cleared you you should wait a little. For example I got cleared by my doctor to start trying whenever (a fertility specialist not just some random obgyn). Even that I had my period I kept spotting from time to time and my hcg was still there. Turns out that I had a minor retained tissue not showing on the ultrasounds which kept me “pregnant”. Due to this I got a uterine infection which is common from a miscarriage and if I got pregnant during this time it would’ve caused another miscarriage. Thankfully we treated this and now it’s all good and we can start again soon.

@Boryana i cant believe they cleared you before you tested negative! did they confirm with an ultrasound at all? i understand its a very common thing to miss and your body is likely goimg to be the first indication of it happening. always trust your gut when it comes to babies!

@Alli Most doctors in US are textbook doctors from what I’ve seen…. They literally tell you after your miscarriage /D&C surgery that you can have sex in 5 days (hell no) and try for a baby whenever you like. The only reason they continued to monitor my HCG is because I wanted to perform a procedure to take a piece of my uterine lining and test it for abnormal growth or infections that might be causing the miscarriages (I’ve had 4 (two due to thyroid problem, one chemical and one missed miscarriage no reason found not even chromosomal) and they couldn’t do the procedure before I test negative as it can hurt a potential pregnancy. I had a few ultrasounds before this procedure to check where in the cycle I am and they never spotted anything wrong.
