driving after c section

I’m 7 days post c-section and starting to feel really anxious about my husband returning to work next week. He works all over the country so he’s often leaving early hours and getting home late. Means I’ll be stuck inside my flat with no way of getting myself out the house for another 4 weeks if following guidelines😫 is anyone else feeling this way? Scared I’m going to get crazy cabin fever!!

I was driving before 6 weeks but wouldn’t have done at 2 weeks personally, but all depends on how you’re feeling! Spoke to my insurance and midwife and as long as you can do an emergency stop you’re good to go, I would suggest getting in your stationary car and doing the physical actions of an emergency stop first. Hope this helps!! 😊

I was driving after 3weeks. Aslong as u feel ok to do it its fine

I drove after 3 weeks and was fine. Don’t do it if you feel any pain but you can drive whenever you feel like you can fully control the car x

Do check with your insurer as mine said I needed to be signed off by my GP (added to my medical notes) to be insured whilst driving again. Was frustrating as my check up was at 8 weeks!

Its not about how you feel it is tp do with the damage you may cause to your new wound if you had to stop suddenly or were in an accident 😖🤷🏼‍♀️.

Thanks everyone, I’m going to try to stick it out as long as possible as I know that’s best for my body. Just anxious as I don’t even live within walking distance to a shop😫😂 hopefully it goes quick!

Wait as long as you can. It’s not even about insurance, it’s the airbag in the steering wheel. If that hits your core in a collision it’ll open you up, gross as it sounds. The internal healing is the most important thing xx

Can you walk anywhere? Cab? Bus? I waited the full 6 weeks because I just don’t think it’s worth the risk! I was probs trading around 3 weeks though x

@Sheri I second this, I had no idea that was even a thing! Thankfully my sister let me know
