My lb has only been toilet trained nearly 2 mths but still having loads of accidents at pre-school minimal accidents at home. Saw a doctor yesterday on a different subject & the doctor was impressed he was toilet trained before his 3rd birthday so I’d say you’ve got plenty of time.
I’m in the same situation. Tried all summer and he was just so resistant. Will sit on toilet or potty but if he starts going he freaks out and can hold it for hours. I’ve taken a break for the last 3 weeks in the hope that he gets over it and we can try again. We’ve only got 2.5 weeks before he turns 3 and I was really hoping he would be done by then
Is there any reason why you don’t want him to go bare for a few days? That seems to be the fastest way to get them to learn and has been the method that everyone I know has used to potty train.
We started too young in March (I’ll fully admit that was my bad), but he finally cracked it in August and is 99% fine around us but still poops himself most days he goes to nursery 😞. I know he’ll get there eventually as it’s definitely a confidence thing (he’s really quite shy) but it’s been difficult. When he cracked it at home we didn’t really do bare bum, but made the bathroom more inviting for him to choose to go by himself - a big step and comfy seat to go on the toilet.
Nowhere near trained! My eldest wasn't until 5 during the day and 6/7 during the night.
My LO is just clearly not ready/ we have a potty & a toilet seat. She will sit on both and knows to take nappy off but just won’t do anything on them. And that’s okay I guess these things happen in their own time. She is also already at nursery. I did find with my son that when he went to nursery a good few years back now it actually helped him with potty training x
We went cold turkey no nappies and I would take him toilet every half an hour, had lots of stickers and bubbles and treats to encourage him which i slowly took away once he got the hang of it. It took an intense week of consistently taking him every 30mins for him to be fully toilet trained. There were lots of accidents in that time which helped him to learn the sensation of needing to wee/poo and then verbalising it so he can control it till he sits on the toilet. It's really hard and I almost gave in to the nappy a few times but I didn't want to confuse him
If they don’t want to then I think they’re not ready just yet. Mine is almost completely try but I tried to early then stopped and revisited a couple of months on and it’s going week…. Just pause and go back to it. Nursery/Pre-school will understand and probably work with you on it. Good luck!
Not yet! We’re attempting it next weekend! X
Same, my LO goes to daycare twice a day. But in all honesty she wasn't ready in the summer. She kept having accidents and as much as we'd try she just ended up having a fear of using the potty 😬. I'm going to start again soon as we're now deciding on baby no2 and ideally I'd want her potty trained by then! I'm sure she will and we don't force it though. She'll be ready in her own time
I’m In the same boat and she goes too nursery hun! I’ve started too make her go by sitting on the toilet with a seat and she will wee Everyone is ready in there own time I guess xx
