Once it's closed properly you've got more of a chance of the risk of infection settling down and you can start putting a little bit of talc on or something similar to help with moisture. I've done these things with both of my sections and managed to not get an infection this time around x
I am plus sized, but I was given a dressing called pico 7. Which kept my incision dry for 7 days. I am pp 2 weeks since I had mine. It did heal well apart from the tiny area, which is about inch wide. I just kept taking a shower twice a day and drying with clean cotton pads. I still have a stitch in an area that hasn't healed yet. I think I'm going to go to GP to get removed.
My nurse gave me interdry when they were discharging me. Basically cut a strip out and put it on the incision where skin rubs against it. They told me to change it anytime I took it shower or sweat a lot. It’s not cheap but I think it really helped keep my incision dry and heal quickly (the incision was basically completely healed at 4.5 weeks). https://products.coloplast.us/coloplast/skin-care/interdry-us/interdry/?srsltid=AfmBOop9js1zfZAbfpKmbX-i_K38Dg4uV2qmRWMKwRZjllfj-taD_Omh
@Sophie thank you so much, I was putting those slim maternity pads on covering the scar, but then that started irritating the ends of the incision and making them sore. I'm hating not being able to use any soaps on it yet and that also makes me so paranoid that it kicks up a sweat stink xxx
I have a fair bit of overhang which was making my scar irritated in the early days especially as I had granulation tissue, but the doctor prescribed a foam dressing for the granulation tissue and it really helped with any rubbing so maybe something like that is worth a try while it’s still healing ❤️ https://amzn.eu/d/e5OUSjC these are the ones I had on prescription but they’ve available to buy online xx
@Megan thank you Megan. Might give these a go xx
I bought a bunch of sterile gauze to put in between and changed it constantly (was the height of summer for me)
I usually wear a long vest top snd tuck it under my pouch I'm nearly 10months pp and about a week ago I got a really bad sweat rash out of nowhere and I did this again and it really helped as it collects the excess sweat and bevause the top is soft it doesn't rub and irritate but I did have alot of problems in the early days same as yourself
Every time you go to the loo or come back from being out and about just quickly pat the area dry with a Muslin cloth or sterile gauze once fully healed I just used toilet roll. It becomes second nature and really helps with the sweat! I still do it occasionally during the summer to prevent sweat rash. 3yrs PP and now pregnant with number 2 and the area is getting irritated again.
I used saline water, dried with a cool setting on the hair dryer and applied gauze. I sometimes did it twice a day with the help from my husband
I did exactly what @Sophie did and tbh still do now, 20m pp. happened the other day, got sweaty and red irritated and stank, all because I hadn’t dried it properly when I came out of the shower. I use talc a lot too.
@Leanne it catches you off guard every now and again doesn't it! But doing that definitely gets it settled down again quickly doesn't it x
I had a pico dressing for 10 days, and then I found when I wore my underwear over my belly, it rubbed and got really sore so even tho it wasn’t fully healed I wore loose underwear but under my belly and it helped it so much
Kitchen roll is great for this! I know it sounds crazy but dabbing the incision often with kitchen roll to keep it dry worked really well for me.

Mine took the absolute piss to heal , there was a bit at the end that refused to close like yours and tbf it did end up closing in the end after some antibiotics. Everyone is different but definitely keep an eye on it and book a gp appointment if you think something isn't right xx
Hey I have the same problem my midwife said fold over a sanitary towel and place there during the day during active times to stop moisture etc
The best thing I did was cleaning it and patting it dry every day, then rolling up a muslin cloth and placing it along the scar/under the overhang of my tummy, this way the skin wasn't touching and the sweating was no where near as bad x
