Open wound

Have many people had an open wound a little while after a c section? I'm 3 weeks pp and have a small would with staph infection. Been advised to keep it covered and put gauze packing in there but doesn't really seem to be getting any better. It's so gross and freaks me out a lot! It's a cm deep! It's numb which is good but im struggling mentally to deal with it. Anyone else had this or got any advise please xxx

Are you taking antibiotics for it? I'm sorry you're going through this, my wound has freaked me out this whole time, I can't even imagine

My GP said she doesn't think it needs antibiotics atm (am also breastfeeding) I'm seeing her today and might ask if antibiotics would speed up the healing process, the rest of my incision is all healed and lovely I wish it was all like that 💜

Mine opened up around cm I got a cream and literally I saw results within 2days of using it but I didn't get an infection in it as soon as I noticed I went to walk in center they gave me the cream as I couldn't get into drs and it was freaking me out too I used nickers that covered my tummy so there was no irrigation and same with trousers untill it healed properly

I had a hole too, popped a stitch I imagine. My GP glued it shut and I was on two rounds of antibiotics.

I was 1 week PP when I popped a stitch somehow and I had a bloody and yellowish liquid seeping out of the hole. I went in to get it checked out ASAP and was told my body developed a hematoma to prevent infection. I was told to keep gauze or a panty liner on it and not to touch it. Just let the soapy water from a shower do the cleaning and it healed up on its own, my Dr couldn’t even tell I had a hematoma form! I was grossed out as well but the blood running from the incision was keeping bacteria out.

@Alana No problem! I was horrified and thought something went extremely wrong. I couldn’t find anything else about it online when I was desperately googling while in the OB office. I’m surprised they didn’t tell you to let it air out when you could, that’s what mine told me to do so that it would keep dry. So sorry you had to go through that. x
