Induction before 40 weeks

Has anybody been diet controlled the whole way and generally stuck within levels and still got induced before 40 weeks?

They offered/strongly an induction at 39 weeks but let me carry on till 41 weeks in the end as I’d kept my readings completely fine with diet and scans showed everything was healthy! I let them push me into an induction in the end, which I honestly regret as baby was completely fine in the scans and my readings were good.

They would want to induce you before 40 weeks, then if you argue they would suggest 41 weeks. I had gestational diabetes, diet controlled, levels were great with the exception of a maybe 4 spikes since 28 weeks onwards. Growth scans okay. I refused induction at 40 weeks and agreed to 41 weeks with full intentions of cancelling if I was still pregnant by the induction date. Had a homebirth at 40+6. Very straight forward, no complications, and agreed to a hospital transfer to monitor baby's glucose levels for 24 hours which were all perfect!

I was always within levels but got told I’d be induced at 40 weeks because they didn’t want me going over but ended up being induced at 36 weeks because I developed preeclampsia x

I was pushed into an induction at 39+4 weeks. Wish I had gone with my gut not to be induced as baby was just not ready. Was then told in hospital there was no rush as baby was happy. My only piece of advice is if baby is healthy and happy don’t accept one. Ask for extra monitoring. I had a 5 day induction leading to a c section when baby was perfectly happy and healthy.

@Kellie I'm so sorry that was your experience, but that's the thing, a few days won't really affect baby. I wish they don't pick and choose what information they give pregnant mamas to scare them. @Chloe On the contrary, baby is more likely to be distressed if forced out, and medical induction is an intervention that will likely lead to more interventions. Also take the scans with a grain of salt, my baby was projected to be 3.3KG at 38+6. She came out at 3.150KG at 40+6. I suggest you listen to the two episodes on Gestational Diabetes by The Midwives Couldron on spotify (not sure where else they have it). It's very informative.
