My elective was 2 nights and I’ll probably do the same for baby 2 soon. Gives you time to rest and get support before you go home to the madness xx
With Both my elective and emergency section I was home after 24 hours
I was discharged 25hrs after he was born
I was discharged after 24 hours and desperate to get home!! 🤣❤️
i was discharged after 24 h and to be honest i didn’t want to stay any longer there.good luck mama x
I was discharged 28 hours after c-sec. I think I would have liked to stay longer (trays of food and buzzer for help is lush) but I think they wanted the bed and kept saying all checks on me and my twins were fine and we could go home when we were ready... so I took the hint!
Emergency c section at 11pm Wednesday, discharged 2pm Friday (with complications) x
My hospital say the standard is 2 nights - I was in 4 nights with my previous section but I’d had a large heammorage so they monitored me for longer
I was also just over 24 hours. Birth at 1014, discharge notes say I was discharged at 1045 following day but I didn't actually get told to leave until 1630 hours. But they were really busy and needed beds so if there were no complications then you were discharged asap
I was on for 2
I was sent home after 22 hours 😳
With my first after an emergency c-section it was 5 nights. I checked myself out and they wanted me to stay longer. With my second I had planned a c-section but turned into an unplanned VBAC. It was the best decision ever. If you have the option and not at risk I would highly recommend. If it was me I personally would stay for a minimum of two nights. You need to be 100% sure your baby is feeding well, that you’re 100% confident you can go back to look after two children. Once you have to cook dinners, run around after your other child as well it’s all go. Depending on the age of your other child as well it could be a nightmare. I had a 2 year 4 month age gap… when the baby cried getting their nappy changed… my first would cry wanting a cuddle and then I would cry because I was exhausted and felt guilty. Physically having a VBAC I was 100% myself the next day. With my first c-section it was an 8 week brutal recovery… I couldn’t imagine being in that situation with two children.
Sometimes you get discharged the day after. I've been 3 nights in because had a problem with breastfeeding and also removed an ovarian cyst during CS so they kept us longer.
24hrs with both electives. My recovery was very straightforward with both so certainly didn’t have any of the challenges highlighted in an earlier post of having to parent another child post c-section.

24-48 hours.
I think it varies but I asked my consultant this and she said I should expect to stay 2 nights if all goes well.
